<br />
I’m tired of stepping on it and getting discouraged because it doesn’t move! I hate the way it makes me feel like I am putting in so much work but getting no results! I don’t like being ruled by a number. I don’t like the negativity that I associate with the evil little thing… I don’t like the negativity that I associate with myself because of its lack of movement, or its movement in the wrong direction (but who’s fault is that really?) <br />
<br />
So I’ve decided to quit the scale and I’m not taking measurements. I’m just focusing on myself! I’m focusing on the way my close fit… the way I feel when I look in the mirror… I’m not letting the numbers rule me anymore. I want things to be different this time! I want to be able to actually make it through a summer and holiday season without gaining at least 10 lbs (if not more)! I want my focus to be on positive lifestyle changes and not getting caught up in numbers! If and when people ask me how much weight I’ve lost I want my response to be, “I have no idea!” <br />
Holliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15722311028440693436noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2132653111663441657.post-55193321661193168512014-01-30T14:11:00.000-06:002014-01-30T14:11:04.034-06:00No, I'm not dead... It's just been a while!I’ve been sitting here staring at a blank screen… Should I or shouldn’t I? I like having it because I like being able to look back, but I feel like I’m saying the same thing over and over… So why even start again? Even now I’m debating if I should start posting again… What would I say? Does anyone even read it? Does anyone even care?<br />
<br />
Well… I read it… I care… and if you don’t like what I have to say that’s too bad! I probably won’t be able to post every day and not all my posts are going to be exercise or weight loss related. I just want to be able to look back at more than a few months at of the year before I disappear again!<br />
<br />
So with that I’ll leave you wondering and waiting with sweet anticipation as to when my next post will be and what it will be about…<br />
Holliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15722311028440693436noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2132653111663441657.post-14719184146839515652013-08-05T10:31:00.001-05:002013-08-05T10:31:56.382-05:00Random Confessions...1. It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything… I’m sure you can only guess why!
<br />
2. I had a million confessions going through my head and now that I’m sitting down in front of the computer my mind is blank!
<br />
3. I wish I had a computer in my shower… *see # 2*
<br />
4. I keep wondering why I go around in circles ending up right back where I started…
<br />
5. This morning to avoid heading out to the gym Jeremy and I walked circles around each other cleaning up stuff in the kitchen.
<br />
6. My kitchen is quite small.
<br />
7. I really want to move out of my small house into something bigger with a yard.
<br />
8. I’m tired of the same old same old and ready for something new.
<br />
9. Right now I’m very motivated and I worry how long it will last… I hope a very long time but worry it won’t… *see #4*
<br />
10. I just googled “clean eating” and they have a website called “Eating Clean For Dummies”
<br />
11. I’m on that website now…
<br />
12. I really wish I had a garden *see #7*
<br />
13. I love making lists… I’m horrible at actually accomplishing the tasks on them!
<br />
14. I’m intrigued by quinoa but am not brave enough to try it.
<br />
15. I’m still googling clean eating.
<br />
16. An older gentleman said to me at work today, “If I had any money I’d do business with you, girl!”
<br />
17. I work at a bank.
<br />
18. I’m still slightly confused as to how to take the above statement…
<br />
19. I’m still going back and forth as to if I want to start posting regularly or not… If I did I think I will incorporate more of my personal family life in as well. My workouts tend to be redundant and I don’t want to post the same things over and over!
<br />
20. Here goes nothing!

I haven't posted anything about where I stand with my weight loss lately and that's mostly because I really haven't lost anything. I know what the problem is, it's my eating! I've pretty much been eating what I want and that's really been killing my weight loss! As of the last 'weigh in' I was down 2 lbs which puts me at a total of 9 lbs since January 7th... Not bad but also not where I wanted to be! Looking back at this time last year I was down almost 15 lbs, but hey, I'll take what I can get considering I really haven't been putting in the effort (food wise) to deserve 15 lbs!</div>

Today I ordered a new pair of kicks! I don't think there is a woman out there who doesn't love a new pair of shoes! I just happen to love spending my money on running shoes, not that there's anything wrong with a cute pair of heels or anything, I just prefer my Saucony's! I've been having a bit of pain in my left ankle and my right foot will go completely numb around mile two so I figure it was time for a new pair. Since I started running I've been rockin' the miles out in the Omni's by Saucony, starting with the Omni 8's and my latest pair being the Omni 10's. Since I know what I like and the size I need I always order them on line. This time, however, I couldn't find my beloved Omni 10's in my size... <em>like anywhere</em> (said in the voice of T-Swift). Trying not to freak out I looked at the other stability shoes Saucony has to offer and found they have the new Omni 11's, but I just wasn't digging the new style or the colors so I settled on the Guide 6's. Hopefully they are similar to my Omni's! On a side note I think they're super cute...</div>

... Listen kids, if you think I'm willing to show up this year in my tankini just because I haven't been able to keep up my awesome physique, well let me tell you... you're wrong! I have 32 days and my goal is to drop another 10 lbs so I can be where I was last year... Rockin' the waterslides in my bikini! So my friends, stay tuned and hopefully I can keep you better updated as to what's going on around here!</div>

The BurpeeWhere do I start with this one? Well, let's start with what a burpee is for those of you who might not know. It looks like this...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu38XtDxAQY9hA5GfuiYYfDqOG2DIjfQ8YKubpPsVjWJ4EWXyynN3qVPYi4sPumFXb7iHJA5OLlgJYxfHzhYjeecnR9ajdRNLp23OxQ67YXlswqgDLvIvDlqxDHrHzgRB3JsdyV98rJh0/s1600/burpee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu38XtDxAQY9hA5GfuiYYfDqOG2DIjfQ8YKubpPsVjWJ4EWXyynN3qVPYi4sPumFXb7iHJA5OLlgJYxfHzhYjeecnR9ajdRNLp23OxQ67YXlswqgDLvIvDlqxDHrHzgRB3JsdyV98rJh0/s400/burpee.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A: Squat Down and place your hands on the floor. B: Kick your legs out and do a push up.<br />
C: Jump your feet back in. D: Jump up.... Repeat until you're dead!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I don't know that there is anyone in the world who actually enjoys doing these! In fact I'm convinced that the only people in the world who actually enjoy these are the trainers who make us do them! Although my trainer does them with me so I guess I can't complain too much! This pretty much sums up how I feel about burpees...<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to know... Does anybody out there actually like doing these? Anybody... Bueller... Bueller...</div>

It's not actually fun... at all! In fact it really sucks and I would have rather did the jump rope!<br />
<br />
Today instead of the jump rope we did these...<br />
<br />
<div class="separ<div class=" separator="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdHuTO3VRO3ZDH-Q6QfjwqjrwyN39I-k_qhSaPfGBI3nXeIEgpEQeCKmz8QbvFxw56y5xY-Y-2ajBSPYIuBJfXYSwAFDzmfa58tSTL2EbEPns3ovb7W-ABoCX2HxwjPvX7AHpquqGcL2k/s1600/lateral%252520bench2revised.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdHuTO3VRO3ZDH-Q6QfjwqjrwyN39I-k_qhSaPfGBI3nXeIEgpEQeCKmz8QbvFxw56y5xY-Y-2ajBSPYIuBJfXYSwAFDzmfa58tSTL2EbEPns3ovb7W-ABoCX2HxwjPvX7AHpquqGcL2k/s400/lateral%252520bench2revised.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm not quite sure what the exact term for this exercise, but I do know it sucks! What you do is you place your hands on the bench and jump side to side over the bench. It might not sound that hard but you should try it sometime! After each set we would lay on the bench and do reverse crunches like this guy...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9cw-IDNStZQbTedCKwoqxKEe6C2d3vl0umtXAiRTbFAEUS-UZ5BwpSmtomkE3zo91noKIvuFmxIpUiO9jEqRPJLOequ8AgpZuoT80SlkXQFIIeJjYOYTlkoiRNdYCzRb6uSPfNwh_XQo/s1600/reverse-crunch-bench.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9cw-IDNStZQbTedCKwoqxKEe6C2d3vl0umtXAiRTbFAEUS-UZ5BwpSmtomkE3zo91noKIvuFmxIpUiO9jEqRPJLOequ8AgpZuoT80SlkXQFIIeJjYOYTlkoiRNdYCzRb6uSPfNwh_XQo/s320/reverse-crunch-bench.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
... And if that wasn't enough we sat on the bench and did flutter kicks! I believe we did this round of exercises 3 times. Next time he says that he has something fun planned I'm outta there!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On a side note.. The past two weeks had me really down. My scale didn't move at all! It's so frustrating because the first two weeks I lost 7 pounds... <strong>7 pounds</strong>... Then nothing! It's hard for me to not get down on myself. I play the, "Why am I working so hard when nothings working" game! In reality I know what we're doing is working... I feel like I'm slimming... My clothes are not quite as tight as they were 4 weeks ago... So why is the number on the scale so darn important?!? Finally today I was down another 2 pounds! I felt like I had just won the lottery! In the end I know it's not going to happen over night, and I keep reminding myself of that! Little by little I'll get there!</div>

That got my wheels spinning... I'm itching to do one, well another one! I did the <a href="http://www.godirtygirl.com/" target="_blank">Dirty Girl</a> in June with a bunch of my girls...</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPwJralx3ixg2UV-8DBE5uDBv-ag3NvQoJQN11Y_TUR2YnnBu2m0YnSLIzNWsdsOZ5bwerE8m8jnAuzexGiOlfPeKzVazKsY1HP1cNQWKDsgFUZ69U361J627BiXjmEvH19F1ZYS7lDPM/s1600/241882_493634627328730_1881971290_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPwJralx3ixg2UV-8DBE5uDBv-ag3NvQoJQN11Y_TUR2YnnBu2m0YnSLIzNWsdsOZ5bwerE8m8jnAuzexGiOlfPeKzVazKsY1HP1cNQWKDsgFUZ69U361J627BiXjmEvH19F1ZYS7lDPM/s320/241882_493634627328730_1881971290_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
... and it was a lot of fun but it wasn't much of a challenge. It was mostly hurry up and wait. The race wasn't timed so there was no rush on the course or at any of the obstacles... which was fun but sometimes a gal needs a chip in her bib!</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's why after reading all of the posts about adventures in OCR's (that's what the 'insiders' call 'em) I really... really... really want to do one (or more) this year. My first thought was <a href="http://www.warriordash.com/" target="_blank">Warrior Dash</a>, but then I started doing a little more research and found this little gem...</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
The <a href="http://toughmudder.com/" target="_blank">Tough Mudder</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
Holy hell... So after checking out their website I immediately sent Trainer Jeremy a text that said, "Google 'Tough Mudder!'" A few minutes later I still hadn't heard anything so I texted him again and got this response, "Looks pretty awesome!" And that was it, folks my fate is sealed! With Trainer Jeremy's approval we're signing up for a Tough Mudder!</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm torn between being super pumped to be doing this and wanting to puke... mostly it's wanting to puke! I am, however, really excited to have something big to work towards. Training for a road race only requires you to run... run... run, but training for a OCR requires <em>way</em> more out of you! They don't call it a Tough Mudder for nothin'! So my friends here's to new adventures and mud running!</div>

The Treadmill<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We've talked about the elliptical now let's talk the treadmill. If there is one piece of equipment in the gym that I find the most boring, it's the treadmill. I think it's safe to say that I actually hate the treadmill... Actually, this isn't the first time I've said this, <a href="http://formercouchpotatoconfessions.blogspot.com/2012/01/treadmill.html" target="_blank">remember</a>?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let's face it the treadmill can be, or should I say, <em>is</em> BORING! I think this pretty much sums it up...</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5647GeY9CWVS03Vsl7woVobmsPXeIuZR05yq7tvSRzScxDEeTduEXF4zrRhcv416AYn95Ry55CSY0Azqp1meqQ683-TyEeauojB0nmTo9hJrJKhkGvCJsnjqHXIFGuICCqE4H4bInbJ4/s1600/untitled.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5647GeY9CWVS03Vsl7woVobmsPXeIuZR05yq7tvSRzScxDEeTduEXF4zrRhcv416AYn95Ry55CSY0Azqp1meqQ683-TyEeauojB0nmTo9hJrJKhkGvCJsnjqHXIFGuICCqE4H4bInbJ4/s400/untitled.bmp" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, to try and make those minutes go by a little faster we like to change things up a bit! One of the exercises we've been doing is.... what else but... Sprints! This week before getting on the elliptical we've been hopping on the treadmill and doing our warm-ups there. It's 10 minutes with 1 minute sprints between minutes 3 & 4, and another between minutes 7 & 8. The hardest part of this exercise for me is to continue to run at my regular pace and not stop and walk after each sprint. The more I do it, the better I get though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another exercise we do on the treadmill is to walk at a slower pace but raise the incline waaaaaaaaay up... Like to 12 or 15! This is killer... fer realz yo! If I had to choose between the two I think I'd rather do the running with the sprints! I wish I could skip the treadmill all together, but alas, I can't! I hate to admit it but I need the treadmill, I need the cardio workout it gives me, the different muscle groups it works for me, and mostly because there is no way you're going to find me on a road running outside in Northern Illinois in the middle of January... Holla! </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyone else out there have any fun (said sarcastically) treadmill exercises that help the time go by faster?</div>

Jeremy and I are Mexican food junkies so you can only imagine our heartbreak at knowing that it's not the best food for us to be eating now. So to cure our craving I made homemade tortilla chips to dip in salsa... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGuRnMv6xir5Q_sDPZUtIzPVaity6jZtB6uhc7CxT2JOjvQq_dBCHLQmINof7R32ixajqfwCIK8lo3qlLNwRdrWO7EqcutZGfdddDfsVFJnXNTBVKsaL5Mm54HbEmr7pujHDqi4K-26Zk/s1600/078.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGuRnMv6xir5Q_sDPZUtIzPVaity6jZtB6uhc7CxT2JOjvQq_dBCHLQmINof7R32ixajqfwCIK8lo3qlLNwRdrWO7EqcutZGfdddDfsVFJnXNTBVKsaL5Mm54HbEmr7pujHDqi4K-26Zk/s320/078.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The recipe is easy. Take regular corn tortillas and cut them in half and then cut each half into thirds. Place them on a baking sheet (it works better if you use one that doesn't let the air circulate through it) and bake at 400 degrees for about 5-10 minutes. You'll really have to watch them though because my first batch took the full 10 minutes but the second only took 5 minutes! Sprinkle with a little salt and you have a healthier version of tortilla chips!</div>

Yesterday I had the day off from work, but still got my rear end out of bed early to get to the gym with Trainer Jeremy. I decided to utilize my day off time wisely by going grocery shopping. I hate grocery shopping... like HATE it! I think I hate it so much because I split my shopping up between two different stores, <a href="http://aldi.us/index_ENU_HTML.htm" target="_blank">Aldi</a> & <a href="http://www.walmart.com/" target="_blank">Walmart</a>. My little town has a Walmart but doesn't have an Aldi so that leaves me no other option than to drive to the next town over about 20 minutes away... Boo hoo, poor me... I know! The only good thing about having to drive to the next town to get my groceries on my day off is that I got to have lunch with Jeremy. Don't worry, we stayed healthy and got Subway! Also, my shopping was made a lot easier due to the fact that I'm trying to <a href="http://formercouchpotatoconfessions.blogspot.com/2013/01/time-management.html" target="_blank">manage my time</a> better by planning meals so I actually had a complete list! I saved my Walmart trip for after dinner in hopes that Jeremy would be able to come with me but he ended up staying home. Which brings me to my next topic...<br />
<br />
2. My washer died... Done... Kaput.... End of Story. When I got home from Walmart it was already sitting in my garage. I guess it's time was coming, we've had it as long as we've been married... over 12 years. It was a good little washer... She lived a good life! So Jeremy took a day off today to head out and get our new washer and dryer.<br />
<br />
3. I'm tired... really tired... today. I went to bed a a decent time last night, but boy am I really feeling the effects of the hard work I'm putting in at the gym. This morning I had a hard time during our workout, but I still pushed past the tired and the hurt for a kick ass workout. Speaking of hurt, I don't believe there is a muscle in my body that isn't on fire! I keep telling myself that it's a good hurt but every time I sneeze my abs tell me otherwise! I sent Trainer Jeremy a love text that said this, "I hate you... It all hurts!" Do you want to know what I got back as a response? " :) " Yep... a smiley face! Whatever... It's paying off so far so I guess I shouldn't complain... Right?!?Holliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15722311028440693436noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2132653111663441657.post-50865378011695607322013-01-16T17:42:00.001-06:002013-01-16T17:42:19.907-06:00Workout Wednesday... The EllipticalI thought I'd share some of the exercises that Trainer Jeremy has me (us) doing in the gym and call them...<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>"Workout Wednesday"</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Clever... I know! So, here's the first and probably the hardest exercise we do, and it all happens on the elliptical! I know most of my runner friends loathe the elliptical. Only because they feel it doesn't give them the same workout that running does, and they're right, it doesn't. That doesn't mean you should shy away from the elliptical, it can give you quite a good workout too! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We're only on it for a total of 20 minutes... Yep 20 minutes that's all, but in those 20 minutes we're working harder than most people would if they were on there for 40 minutes, heck, maybe even an hour! Here's what it looks like...</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
Minutes 1-4: Warm up at Resistance Level 10</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
Minutes 5-18: Starting at the top of the minute raise resistance level to 12 and sprint for 15 seconds. Lower resistance and recover 45 seconds. Repeat at the top of the next minute.</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">
Minutes 19-20: Cool down. Raise resistance to 12 again and change directions to a backward motion.</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It doesn't look like much of a workout, but let me tell you it is <em><strong>killer</strong></em>! By the time we're done I'm covered in sweat and feel as if I'm going to toss my cookies! Wait I don't eat those anymore! Well you know what I mean! The best part is, each week Trainer Jeremy bumps the sprint time up a second! Fun right... NOT! We're in week two so that means 16 second sprints... Yeah! *Do ya hear the sarcasm?*</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next time you're in the gym and you're looking for something different try this, it really is a great workout!</div>
<ul><div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
</ul>

On Wednesday I tried one of her recipes called <a href="http://www.skinnytaste.com/2009/02/crock-pot-santa-fe-chicken-425-pts.html" target="_blank">Crock Pot Santa Fe Chicken</a>. It was so good! Here is her description of it... <br />

If you will take a look at the definition of the word 'procrastinate' in the dictionary...<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
"<em>Procrastinate:</em><br />
<em>transitive verb: to put off intentionally and habitually.</em><br />
<em>intransitive verb: to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done</em>."</blockquote>
<br />
...And then you'll find a picture of me. Okay, so maybe my picture isn't in the dictionary next to the word, but it should be! And I also think this is why I continue to go up, and down, and up, and down with my weight! I like to wait until the last possible second to get something done, and then I'm running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to do it! So what does this have to do with my weight loss you might ask... Well let me explain!<br />
<br />
When losing weight, or trying to lose weight, the formula is easy...<br />
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="center">
Calories In < Calories Out</div>
<div align="center">
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
Don't you just love my math skills! So in order to lose weight, not only do you need to be working out, but you need to be eating right as well. This means that grabbing a pop tart for breakfast on the way out the door to work is probably not the best option! It also means that eating vending machine lunches because you didn't have time to pack one are out as well. That leaves no other option than to plan and prepare for the day.<br />
<br />
This is where I struggle, and I'll be a lot of you struggle as well! As I mentioned I'm a procrastinator to the 'T'! I mean why do today what you could put off until tomorrow... Right?!? Yeah? No! Even though it's only been the first week I've made sure to plan and prepare. When I make the kids lunches for school I make sure to make mine as well. I've also printed a calendar so I can plan out our dinners too. It usually works like this for the first few months and then.... well you know... and that is why I gained all my weight back! It wasn't the lack of working out because really I still did that (kind of), it was the diet (or maybe I should say the eating!) <br />
<br />
So another goal for me this year is to continue the meal planning and preparation! We'll see how it goes!</div>

On Monday morning when Trainer Jeremy and I got into the car to go to the gym he said to me, and I quote, "Remember now, when we step into the gym we're no longer friends!" Gee Dear... I love you too! He was, however, correct! Ever since Monday every time we step into the gym I hate him... and I make sure to tell him that too! I don't actually really hate him... but I sure don't like him sometimes! I'm glad he's back to pushing me to push myself harder, and I'm sure come summer time when I'm rockin' my bikini I'll love him even more for it! Just don't tell him I said that!<br />
<br />
2. Speaking of bikini's... Last night when I got home from work I made Jeremy do some before pictures of me in one of them... Let me tell you friends it was not good! We also did measurements so I can not only track my weight loss but also the inches lost as well! Oh and if you're looking for the before pictures I'm not posting them... at least not yet!<br />
<br />
3. I have a new favorite workout song... <br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pPtlSF4TlJE" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
P!nk's Try... Love it! My favorite lyrics from the song are... <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em></em> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em>"But just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die... </em></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em>You gotta get up and try try try!"</em></div>

<div style="border: currentColor;">
Here I am again a new year and I'm right back in the same position I was in last year (and the year before... and the year before).... Fat and Unhappy! Maybe I should re-name my blog "Confessions of a Relapsing Couch Potato!" Well, I wouldn't say I've relapsed into the couch potato I once was, but I am nowhere near the physical shape I was in as of my last post on April, 2 2012! I've struggled with whether or not I should even post anything on here or not since it feels as if I keep saying the same things over and over! In the end I do like being able to go back and read my past posts so I've decided it can't hurt!</div>
</div>
<div style="border: currentColor;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: currentColor;">
So what has been going on since the last time we talked? Well... a lot! Trainer Jeremy and I were able to keep rocking it in the gym up until about the end of May when his shift for work changed back to midnights, and I was left to get myself up and to the gym on my own. That's where it started to go down hill for me. Not having Jeremy there to help keep me going means I simply didn't go! Poor excuse but it is what it is! I was, however, able to join my Lady K as her running buddy for her second Girls On The Run 5K! Here we are getting close to the finish line... </div>

In May we were also able to get out for our first camping trip of the season! Camping is my little family's favorite way to vacation! It's also mine and Jeremy's favorite way to put on pounds by drinking like fish and eating whatever we want! Here's me with my two K's on a Mother's Day hike at Devils Lake State Park...</div>

At the end of August Jeremy went back to day shift bringing September early morning gym visits again! However, the intensity of these workouts were no where near the intensity of our workouts before his shift change! We weren't watching what we were eating and at the end of September we were able to get the camper out with some friends who just purchased a camper of their own... So you know what that means! Camping (especially with friends) leads to eating & drinking! It was a blast though! </div>

All in all I really only missed about a total of 2 months in the gym this past year but the damage is done! I think the biggest problem is that I've let my eating get out of control. I'm angry with myself because I'm stuck here again but once again I'm commited to getting the weight off and I have no doubt I will be able to do it! Not!I hate Monday's... Like with a passion! I think my workouts hate Monday's as well! It was extremely hard for me to get going this morning and I don't think I really ever did! Here is what today's work out looked like...<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><strong>Elliptical</strong> - 30 minutes at level 10 resistance... For a total of 4 miles. *Usually I can get 5 miles in the 30 minutes I'm on there but like I said I was lagging this morning.*</li>
<li><strong>Weights</strong>- This switches from day to day hitting different muscle groups. Today we did a series of ab work and what Trainer Jeremy likes to call "Iron Mike's" (there's a meaning behind that name but I'll spare you the back story!) For the ab workout we used the bench ...</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPwlyg71O-uwXOSx0ikTtoPaxiQFSDBjqp2kWFxbvML8pMxa8ri_8YXjWOuQSbcUR9eVkRHv3ymoDeibfr3jcV9cX2D3OnWgRmNwPQlpNQNSpNkWTMFEr_EYER1k1lfJ9wtvfoWztl5fY/s1600/bench.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPwlyg71O-uwXOSx0ikTtoPaxiQFSDBjqp2kWFxbvML8pMxa8ri_8YXjWOuQSbcUR9eVkRHv3ymoDeibfr3jcV9cX2D3OnWgRmNwPQlpNQNSpNkWTMFEr_EYER1k1lfJ9wtvfoWztl5fY/s200/bench.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Seat yourself on the edge of the bench and bring your legs up so that you're balanced on the bench.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Like this guy...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjACRp2cyG0TOZY6xkiZqSP4y7H3Zq7Rm2WFtR-pHzw-Mw88bAFDQsRptJ4Tj9VRwF0i3EJtWxUzieGcZKuLIdWD31DUSDTHKkxirBIZogzni0ccRr_zRzvY8Ze2MixAstjQonC8oVe_XE/s1600/v-ups-on-bench_-_step_1_max_v1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjACRp2cyG0TOZY6xkiZqSP4y7H3Zq7Rm2WFtR-pHzw-Mw88bAFDQsRptJ4Tj9VRwF0i3EJtWxUzieGcZKuLIdWD31DUSDTHKkxirBIZogzni0ccRr_zRzvY8Ze2MixAstjQonC8oVe_XE/s320/v-ups-on-bench_-_step_1_max_v1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now kick your legs in and out (count to 15)... feel the burn... oh yeah! But we're not done! Next, keeping our legs out we would raise them high, middle, and the very worst, low (don't touch the ground), then back to the middle. Now open, close, open, close, one leg up and one leg down (like scissors), switch, switch again, switch again, and kick outs... 5 more. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's one set... we did 3 sets of these.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In between the ab sets we did what Trainer Jeremy calls "Iron Mike's." Basically they're lunges with weights... and they really suck! Today I used 10lb weights and Trainer Jeremy used 20's and we did 10 "Iron Mike's," took a quick rest (like grab a sip of water and get your butt back here) and hit the abs again. We did 3 sets of these also.</div>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Cardio Hell</strong>- I call it this because, really, there is no other way to describe this next portion of our workout! Since one of the jump ropes went missing we've been using the medicine balls and doing my very favorite *said in a very sarcastic voice* Jump Squats... Yea! For these I use the 10lb ball and Trainer Jeremy uses the 12lb one. Here's how they go... Start down low with the ball at your chest like this chick here... <div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
</li>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Next... do as the name says and JUMP lifting the ball up over your head </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
kind of like she is here... just don't throw the ball, keep holding it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguZvbH1b8OFpxsQZv52MU-SVwSXyNtegYnngaA9eHXCwUSh8OfbnXOaIIcIH8lmB8XknV4OF3YTbQX-UAVs_ff1zc1z5_cT8Prn-gHR29ksGzxLPjqzK8hxN_KCiZRSefcFVUYuDmBtOw/s320/jumpsquat2.jpg" width="138" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today we started with 8... then did 9 in the next set... and for the last set we did 10. We have been known to get up to 20 of these bad boys at a time but like I said... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's Monday and neither of us was really feeling it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In between our jump squat sets we did more sit-ups (20 holding the medicine balls) and went right into a push up set. 5 push ups, then hold at the top lifting one hand up to the ceiling and keeping one hand on the ground... then switch so the hand on the ground is up and the one that was up is on the ground. Back to push up position and get ready for mountain climbers... counted off like this... 1, 2, 3..1. 1, 2, 3...2 all the way up to 10. Back to push up position and 3 more push ups.... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We did 2 sets of these between each set of jump squats.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Treadmill</strong> - This brings us to the end of the work out... Treadmill time. Today I did just 10 minutes and an easy-for-me pace of 6.0 (or a 10 minute mile) finishing up today's mileage at 5 total. Most days I get about 15 minutes on here and will change up the work out so that I don't get board... adding sprints, or bringing up the pace a little, or going at a really slow pace and bumping the incline up to a 15... If you think running is hard, try this... It's killer!</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So there you have it... My Monday in the gym... We spend about an hour there... maybe more, depending on how many times the snooze button is hit! I hope this helps give you all a glimpse into what my mornings are like and maybe helps give some ideas for you to change up your routine. There are other things we do in there as well... Like the step ups onto the bench mentioned above with a 25lb weight plate held over my head... yeah, that's one of my favorites too! I'll try and keep updating everyone on what my workouts are looking like... and maybe even be brave enough to bring my camera to get pictures of me actually doing the exercises (if I can get Trainer Jeremy to take the pictures, he's usually all business when it comes to gym time)!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the weight loss front I'm still doing really well! This morning I very cautiously stepped on the scale and was shocked to see that I was down another 3 lbs. I'm not going to change my weight thing until I've held there for a few days... my body is crazy and will be down one day and up the next and after the week I've had with the kids on spring break I'm really having a hard time believing that I actually lost weight! I was expecting a weight gain! So keep tuning in to see if my little ticker over there actually goes down!</div>Holliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15722311028440693436noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2132653111663441657.post-65874156093720024532012-03-29T08:19:00.000-05:002012-03-29T08:19:07.951-05:00Three Things Thursday...I know it's been a while since I've updated! Not much has changed as far as my workouts go so I don't want to bore you all with posting the same things over and over! I figured I'd just give you a quick update on what's been going on lately... Complete with pictures!<br />
<br />
<strong>1.</strong> March 15th marked the halfway point of my weight loss journey! At that point I'd lost a total of 18lbs and Trainer Jeremy was down a total of 15lbs! Here we are in our St. Patty's Day green ready for a night out...<br />

<strong>2.</strong> Jeremy took Lady K out for her Girl Scout Troop's annual Daddy/Daughter Dance, so I thought I'd show off some of my good looking family! <br />

<strong>3.</strong> This week is spring break so we decided to get away for a few days! We usually will spend a night or two at an indoor water park about 30 minutes from our home but this year we headed up to the Wisconsin Dells and spent a few nights at <a href="http://www.wildernessresort.com/">The Wilderness Waterpark Resort</a>... and for the first time in over 10 years I rocked a bikini! I'm not gonna lie.. at first it felt a little strange... almost like I was naked but after a while I just didn't care! I worked hard for what I have... and darn it... I'm showing it off!<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><em>"We work out..."</em></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNoRffxoABJIA2sZonNtRhy22TnCL2_IDIUqOQIxmc5XcAlbiuGhRyIo76lckOejAN3bhEDTygLibYlTP7iQHTds_MLZTe9ypEGWuRqZy1iL9cqolXcyl7-klvhHAP5Ic_dbHr7AmoEKE/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNoRffxoABJIA2sZonNtRhy22TnCL2_IDIUqOQIxmc5XcAlbiuGhRyIo76lckOejAN3bhEDTygLibYlTP7iQHTds_MLZTe9ypEGWuRqZy1iL9cqolXcyl7-klvhHAP5Ic_dbHr7AmoEKE/s320/008.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />

<br />
So there you have it... just a little update on what's been going on! Trainer Jeremy and I are still working hard 6 days a week at the gym and I still have a good 10-12 lbs left to lose! My next goal is to <em>really</em> be able to rock a bikini come camping season! We have a few big trips planned this year and for the first time in what seems like forever... I'm excited for summer and the warm weather!Holliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15722311028440693436noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2132653111663441657.post-49234699525768235022012-03-06T09:04:00.001-06:002012-03-06T09:04:54.229-06:00Tuesday Tid-BitsToday's post shall be done bullet point style...<br />
<br />
<ul><li>Yes, I'm still alive... Duh! And yes, I'm still trucking along on my weight loss journey! I've been skipping Weigh In Wednesday's (well at least one of them) because I feel like they're all I do! I'm still updating my ticker so if you're curious to see where I'm at... Just check it out. 14 lbs... that's right! </li>
<li>Speaking of weight loss... do you remember that <a href="http://formercouchpotatoconfessions.blogspot.com/2012/01/weigh-in-wednesday_18.html">weight loss contest</a> I told you I signed up for? Well, by some sort of miracle I'm in second place... <em>2nd PLACE</em>! Ummmm.... I haven't been in the running this whole time and now all of a sudden... BAM (sorry Emeril for stealing your saying) I'm in second place. And it's not like I'm far behind the first place person... they're at 4.3% body fat lost and me, I'm at 4.1%... It's that close people! Let me ask you this... do you know what happened when Trainer Jeremy saw the numbers?!? Yep... My <strike>daily ass kickings</strike> workouts got a whole lot harder! See, Trainer Jeremy, he's a bit competitive... ok not a bit... maybe extremely competitive is more like it so when he saw how close I was to winning his game (and mine) stepped up! He says it's for me and the wonderful feeling I'll have when I win but really I think he just wants the prize that comes with winning... a 42" flat screen TV! Can you blame him?!?</li>
<li>Yesterday I signed up for my first race of the season (and after the cost it might be my only race of the season)! I'm so excited to do this run because it's not just a run, Ladies, no it's the <a href="http://www.godirtygirl.com/">Dirty Girl Mud Run</a>! Oh man am I excited! It's a girls only mud run that raises money for breast cancer research. My beautiful friends and I have formed a team and plan on KILLING it at this race! I couldn't think of a better way to spend the last Saturday in June... Getting down and dirty with my favorite girls... and all for a good cause... HOLLA!</li>
<li>I'm coming up on the half way point of my weight loss journey... and number wise I'm about half way there as well! Soon I'll be posting a new picture of me and Trainer Jeremy so you can see our hard work first hand! It doesn't seem like it should be March already... Where is this year going?!? How are all of you doing with your goals or resolutions you set for yourself back in January?</li>
